The first week in Rise of Kingdoms is about building momentum without turning every resource into a short-term speed boost. Your civilization matters, but a clean upgrade order and active alliance usually matter more.

Choose a civilization for your plan

Look at the civilization's starting commander, troop focus and permanent bonus. A new player benefits from a bonus that supports frequent building, training or general progression. Do not choose only from appearance if you already know you want to focus on a specific troop type.

Your first choice is not a lifetime commitment. Treat it as a way to make the opening smoother while you learn the systems.

Keep builders and research active

Idle building and research queues are lost progress. Before leaving the game, start the longest useful timer you can afford. During active play, complete shorter prerequisites and collect the resources needed for the next major upgrade.

Follow the requirements for your City Hall instead of raising every building evenly. Upgrade supporting structures when they unlock a useful unit, research tier or City Hall requirement.

Join an active alliance early

An alliance can reduce timers through help, open group activities and make the map safer to navigate. Activity matters more than a prestigious name. Choose a group with members online during your usual play hours and follow its territory rules.

Protect resources before logging off

Keep vulnerable resources low when you are exposed. Open resource items when you have a clear upgrade to fund, not simply because they are available. Scout before sending gatherers far from safety and recall them if the area becomes contested.

Build commanders for specific jobs

Decide which commander leads your main field army and which commanders gather. Avoid splitting premium experience and sculptures across too many combat leaders. A focused primary march is more dependable than several incomplete ones.

Use speedups when timing creates value

Speedups are most useful when they complete an upgrade that unlocks another queue, meets an event target or prepares the city for planned activity. Using them immediately can leave you waiting later when a more valuable objective appears.

Check the event calendar before spending a large stack. Combine necessary progress with rewards whenever possible. Keep universal speedups flexible and use specialized building, research or training items for the matching task first.

Scout and gather with a plan

Send scouts whenever exploration can reveal villages, caves or useful map information. Keep gathering marches active while you work on city tasks. Choose nearby safe nodes when play time is short and larger distant nodes when you can monitor the march.

Do not leave the main combat force carrying resources in a risky area before logging off. The map is shared, and exposure matters more as beginner protection ends.

Prepare for the end of beginner protection

Know where the alliance territory sits, keep the city near support and avoid unnecessary conflict. Upgrade the wall and hospital when they are required or solve a clear defensive need. A protected resource plan is more useful than a large power number built without reserves.

Finish the week with a sustainable plan

At the end of day seven, list the next City Hall requirement, main research goal and commander upgrade. Keep enough resources to begin one of them without emptying every reserve. Confirm that the alliance remains active during your normal play time.

The account should now produce, research and gather even during short sessions. That routine matters more than a temporary power spike because it continues creating progress after beginner rewards slow down.

First-week checklist

  • Keep both construction and research moving.
  • Join an alliance that is active in your time zone.
  • Save resource items until an upgrade needs them.
  • Develop one main combat march first.
  • Use dedicated gathering commanders for resource trips.
  • Check events before spending speedups or commander items.

A strong opening is organized rather than frantic. Build a city that can keep producing, researching and gathering after the beginner rewards slow down.
